A Day in the Life
MCH children cannot wait to come to school! On any given day, they might find themselves arranging fresh flowers in decorative vases for the classroom, painting a watercolor, working on a continent map of the world or laying out the golden bead material and working on forming numbers. At circle time, they might listen to a story or watch a special presentation from a Native American dancer or a parent sharing special customs from his or her country of origin. After lunch, many children ride the “Big Yellow Bus” to a local playground for free play and outdoor time.
In the late afternoon, children may also participate in extra-curricular activities, such as Mandarin, Spanish or gymnastics classes. Some children stay for the extended program, where they engage in free play, arts and crafts as well as yoga, baking, and other relaxing activities.
“To aid life, leaving it free, that is the basic task of the educator.”
