Divergent Thinking
Posted on Friday, February 20, 2009
An interesting and alarming bit of trivia!!! A recent study looked at the percentage of children and adults who demonstrated divergent thinking (thinking creatively, “out of the box”):
3 – 5 year olds 98%
8 - 10 year olds 32%
13-15 year olds 10%
25+ years 2%
What does this say about the state of our education system today and the future of human kind!!!! To solve the myriad of problems of the day, we will need people who can think creatively.
Picasso said “Every child is born an artist. The problem is remaining that way after they grow up.”
